This comprehensive 14-week training module equips tutors with the foundational skills to support literacy development in kindergarten through 5th-grade students. Tutors will learn how to teach essential early literacy skills like phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and comprehension. The module also covers strategies for teaching writing, grammar, and language conventions and offers guidance on supporting struggling readers. With hands-on activities and real-world applications, this module prepares tutors to engage young learners and foster a love of reading, aligned with Common Core State Standards.
Designed for tutors working with middle-grade students, this 14-week module focuses on the shift from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Tutors will gain expertise in teaching vocabulary development, fluency, comprehension of literary and informational texts, and writing across multiple genres, including argumentative and informational writing. This module emphasizes critical thinking, text analysis, and academic language development, ensuring that tutors are equipped to meet the demands of middle school literacy standards. Special sessions include strategies for digital literacy, media evaluation, and supporting struggling readers.

These formative 90-minute assessments will give us an overview of your child's word study skills, reading fluency, reading behaviors, reading and listening comprehension, and writing skills. It will help us plan appropriate lessons to improve your child's reading and writing skills. This is the diagnostic assessment component of the Guided Reading and Writing subscriptions. This camp blends creativity with critical thinking, encouraging campers to imagine the impossible and discover how to make it possible through teamwork and innovation. This is also where young minds may transform into inventors, using their reading, writing, and STEM skills to solve simple problems and create gadgets. First and second graders will embark on a mission to read about famous inventors and their creations, write stories of their inventions, and then bring their ideas to life with basic designing and engineering projects. This camp encourages curiosity, logical thinking, and creativity, providing a foundation for lifelong learning and innovation.
