Welcome to The Masterpiece Academy’s NGAT Test Prep & Enrichment Program for Grade 2 students! This section provides families with information they need to understand how we prepare students for the Naglieri General Ability Test® (NGAT)—used by Fairfax County Public Schools for Level IV Advanced Academic Program (AAP) screening. This diagnostic assessment is designed solely for educational enrichment and preparation purposes. It is not affiliated with, nor does it replicate, the copyrighted or secure content of the Naglieri General Ability Tests® (NGAT®). This class is intended to help students become familiar with the format, structure, and reasoning skills commonly assessed in general ability tests.

NGAT® Skillbuilders and Enrichment for Home is a component of The Masterpiece Academy’s NGAT® Prep and Enrichment learning module, designed to support independent practice outside the classroom. These short, focused activities reinforce verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative reasoning skills through engaging, language-free challenges that align with the structure of the Naglieri General Ability Tests®. Ideal for building confidence, extending learning, and encouraging flexible thinking, the Skillbuilders help students strengthen core abilities at their own pace in a home setting.

The NGAT® Prep and Enrichment Class strengthens students’ verbal reasoning by developing their ability to recognize patterns, categorize visual information, and think conceptually—all without relying on language or prior knowledge. This module goes beyond test preparation by engaging students in activities that stimulate flexible thinking and deepen nonverbal understanding of verbal concepts. It directly supports success on the Verbal section of the Naglieri General Ability Tests® while enriching overall cognitive growth.

The Quantitative Reasoning module of the NGAT® Prep and Enrichment Class helps students develop flexible thinking with numbers, symbols, and visual logic. Through hands-on pattern discovery, equivalency puzzles, and matrix-based reasoning, students build the skills needed to analyze quantitative relationships without relying on formal math instruction. This module prepares students for the Quantitative section of the Naglieri General Ability Tests® while enriching their nonverbal problem-solving abilities.

The Nonverbal Reasoning module of the NGAT® Prep and Enrichment Class cultivates students’ ability to interpret patterns, analyze visual relationships, and apply spatial logic. Using language-free activities such as shape transformations, figure matrices, and classification tasks, students strengthen their abstract thinking and visual problem-solving skills. This module prepares students for the Nonverbal section of the Naglieri General Ability Tests® while fostering cognitive flexibility and spatial reasoning.

The final module of the NGAT® Prep and Enrichment Class features full-length practice tests that simulate the actual Naglieri General Ability Tests®, helping students reduce test anxiety and build essential test-taking stamina. These sessions allow students to apply all reasoning skills in timed conditions, improve pacing, and become familiar with the multiple-choice structure. In addition to boosting confidence, the full-length tests provide valuable insights for instructors to tailor feedback, reinforce strategies, and celebrate students’ growth in logical and abstract thinking.
